Reviewing a few of the past Streamie winners I came across The Hayley Project, one of the nominees from last year. I had seen this show on its initial launch, but lost interest due to it’s girly teen feel.
Big mistake. There is a reason why it was a nominee.
Correlations to LG15 may be drawn, except the look of the story is more cinematic. This is due to a higher quality in recording and advanced editing. Although still a video-blog that breaks the fourth wall like its tissue paper, the feel is seriously more TV Show than YouTube Upload.
The mystery is well thought-out and the actors were smartly picked. The writing is snappy and tightly edited and leaves little room for mind-wandering. The production values are very good and support the story of a teen girl trying to solve a murder mystery. Think an updated, contemporary Nancy Drew.
The show was the proving ground for its producer Andrew Park who already involved with a new show, The Temp Life, in time for this-years Streamies, and from the looks of it it will be yet another contender for a Nominee or even winner.
Although it should be said that the competition this year is ridiculously strong…
