Guidance

It was about time we get a hip-hop gangsta web series.

It’s got all we’d expect from the gangsta-culture, cliches or not: the thick Jamaican accents, the Latino drawls, the $5000  sartorial epiphanies, the the black shades, the spinning wheel caps, the bootylicious Mamis. Staring none other than Reggae’s Troublesum in his first acting gig, Guidance is going where oh so many gangsta-movies have gone before. After all, the formula has been there since Scarface.

The production value of this show is quite good, the acting good to acceptable. The Jamaican is fantastic to listen to, but sometimes a bit hard to understand — Cool Runnings this aint. At time the show feels like one big music video with its almost musical-like interludes, and like for other businesses dipping into the web series pool, it is a vehicle for Troublesum and other artists to jump on the web show bandwagon for promotion’s sake.

Well all right then. Bring it on, man.
