Are you hungry yet?

There are many competitive sports, but none as riveting as Competitive Eating! The gleam of the fresh hot dogs! The captivating drip-drip-drip of the mustard! The fresh smell of the oil! The incredible energy of the eaters and their dedication!

What a sport! What a legendry…

Wait… say what?

Competitive Eating a sport? Indeed it is. In the US it traditionally comes around every year on 4th of July and is even televised by ESPN and has its own federations and leagues. It was popular even in Japan. Ergo, a comedic and fictionalized web show about this whole culinary sub-culture wasn’t far of.

The Quest for the Golden Hot Dog is a hilarious celebration of gluttony, the Remember the Titans of hot dogs, the Chariots of Fire of the buns. Okay, I’m exaggerating a tad.

Still, QftGHD is a very well done parody on sports movies and competitive eating. With its serious mocumentary approach it blurs the lines between the realistic and the absurd, and with its actors slightly emulating actual competitors it may become hard to tell where the parody begins and where it ends.

The production values are outstanding and the writing flawless. Enjoy this show to the fullest, but remember that mustard stains aren’t easily removed.
