Time for another non-US show! This time it’s Oz Girl coming all the way from — you guessed it — Australia.
A 23 episode show (24 if you include the final Q&A ep) it follows the life of a young country girl moving to the big city of Melbourn and her exploits to find friends, a job, a love and a life. Oh, and for some intrigue, her long-lost mother. A shrimp-off-the-barbie story… uh, fish-out-of-water story, don’t expect Crocodile Dundee to show up. This story could have taken place in any random big-city and the Australian setting and accents only increase the charm for western viewers.
Interesting is that this show managed to fly high… in the truest sense of the word. Since November ’09 this show is showing on all V Australia Flights, a first for a web series and quite an achivement for its only 19 year old film maker Nicholas Carlton.
Part Real World, part Mocumentary, the target audience is soap-opera land. The production quality is up to standards for this type of show, as is the acting. If you enjoy the MTV generation relationship stories, this is your cup of tea.
So come and say G-day.
